READ: 1 Timothy 2:1 – Do you ever think your life is rough and then God uses something like that letter to show you someone who has it worse off than you? There are Christians who are being persecuted, and even dying for their faith as we speak. How do we get our minds around this? How do I avoid being filled with great hatred toward the people who were hurting?

“Imagine there’s No Heaven…” The young people of the 1960s & 70s embraced John Lennon’s song “Imagine” and chased the idea of a world that lives and dies with no consequences—a world that has no one to cling to but one another. The song proposes an alter of peace instead of war and that belief in nothing may be a better option than faith in something. 

Read: John 16:33 – When Jesus spoke to His followers in John 16, He was not merely giving them knowledge of what the Father would and could do for them in the midst of pain and suffering. Jesus was moving His followers to total trust with a longer memory of the goodness and sovereignty of God.

Read: Job 10:11–12 – It’s amazing how my head can know one thing, yet my heart can feel totally different. It’s almost a case of spiritual insanity as I shift back and forth from what I believe to be true to what I feel to be true. Spending a little time with David, Job, or the Apostle Paul convinces me that I am not alone.

The Only 3 Things That Last Forever, Day 5 – Faith, Hope, and Love: The Greatest Gifts – “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love” — 1 Corinthians 13:13. There are many places in Scripture where faith, hope, and love are intertwined. The three are inextricably linked. You cannot have faith without hope, or hope without faith, and both our faith and our hope are anchored in the unfailing love of God.

LOVE: The Greatest of All, Day 4 – Faith, Hope, and Love: The Greatest Gifts – READ: 1 Corinthians 13:1–8. When Paul told the Corinthians to stop arguing about which spiritual gift was more important, he ended that chapter with, “I will show you the most excellent way” (1 Corinthians 12:31). Then he proceeded to write a whole chapter about love.

Whether you have lost your job, your hours have been cut, your business is in danger of closing, or you’re concerned about the stock market or the economy in general. We have concerns about both our health and safety and our financial provision. But God shows His people over and over that He is their Provider.
