We believe God is leading Grace Chapel into our next season of ministry. We’re pursuing a future home at 8500 Orchard Road, the former Shepler’s building—an old landmark we hope to turn into a basecamp for worship, mission, and serving our neighbors. Saddle up. We’re following the Lord.

Saddle Up: A New Home for Grace Chapel

We’re following the Lord to 8500 Orchard Road, Greenwood Village
For decades, the iconic western-wear building along I-25 has been a landmark for south Denver travelers. Now, Grace Chapel is pursuing a vision to take this historic space and use it for a holy purpose—to mark the trail for the next generation.
We do not own this property yet. Grace Chapel is currently under contract with the seller and working closely with the City of Greenwood Village through approval processes. This page exists to keep the church family informed, inspired, and praying as this journey unfolds.
A New Legacy for an Old Landmark
The building at 8500 Orchard Road has been part of the south Denver and Greenwood Village corridor since 1977. Grace Chapel’s prayer is not simply to acquire a building, but to create a home that serves neighbors seven days a week—a place where the gospel goes out and the community comes in.
This isn’t about building a mega-church. Grace Chapel envisions becoming a “headquarters” of sorts—a place that intentionally caps growth and sends people, churches, and ministries out to serve the city and the world.

WHO IS GRACE CHAPEL?
Grace Chapel was founded in 1979 with humble beginnings—meeting in Chapel Hill Mortuary off Dry Creek and Colorado Boulevard. Through God’s faithful provision, the church has grown and moved:
1985:
First Building Purchase:
Purchased the first property and quickly outgrew it, even after adding a second story.
1995
Second Building Purchase:
Moved to I-25 & County Line Road, rehabilitating an old car dealership into an 83,000 square foot church home.
2017
Debt Paid Off:
By God’s grace, we paid off the mortgage we owed and have been debt-free ever since.
Grace Chapel is a non-denominational, Bible-teaching church with a simple mission: Leading people to find and follow Jesus.
But the mission doesn’t stop at the church doors.
The command to “love your neighbor” isn’t a slogan—it’s a way of life.
We take “love your neighbor” seriously.
For decades, Grace Chapel has sought to serve the south Denver metro in practical, visible ways:
Community Partnerships
- Partnered with Douglas County to serve those in need
- Provided space for police and fire departments to conduct training and hold meetings
- Operated a free counseling center for six years, offering mental health support to individuals and families in crisis
- Holding events, Bible studies, outreaches, Vacation Bible schools and much more to serve the church and un-churched of south Denver
Neighbor-Focused Service
- Taco Truck Nights—free community meals for apartment neighbors
- Welcome gifts for new residents moving into nearby complexes
- Free festivals and events open to anyone
- Partnership with neighborhood and landlords to serve local residents
A Distinctive Commitment
Over 20% of Grace Chapel’s annual income goes right back out the doors to serve neighbors and support ministry beyond the church walls.
What Grace Chapel has sought to do in Douglas County, the church hopes—by God’s help—to do in Greenwood Village as well.
Why Greenwood Village?
Grace Chapel has studied Greenwood Village’s stated priorities—quality of life, economic vitality, and thoughtful development—and believes it can be a neighbor who strengthens those aims.
The church brings 30 years of experience managing a high-visibility location along I-25 with care and service. Grace Chapel understands how to be a blessing to both residents and commuters, and desires to contribute steady, quiet, consistent service to the Greenwood Village community.
This is also within our three mile-radius we were looking for a new home to settle in. We believe it will serve our regional demographic well as we have people coming from each direction—North, South, East and West. Staying on the highway for accessibility was a goal for our relocation.

This is not a quick move. Grace Chapel expects a process involving:
- Due diligence and property assessments
- Coordination with the City of Greenwood Village
- Architectural planning and renovation work
- Careful transition planning with the future buyer of the current property
A realistic target for moving into 8500 Orchard Road is Spring or Summer of 2028 (the Lord willing).
Grace Chapel’s goal is to remain in its current home until the new property is ready, allowing for a smooth and faithful transition when the time comes.

Stay Steady and Engaged
This journey will require patience. There will be hurdles. There will be updates that feel slow. There will be seasons that feel like a long trail.
Keep Showing Up to Serve
Buildings don’t change the mission—people do. Keep loving your neighbors, discipling the next generation, serving the city, and walking faithfully with Jesus.

No. Grace Chapel is under contract and working through due diligence and city approval processes.
When would the church move?
A realistic timeline is 2028, depending on approvals, construction, and closing timelines.

How will the church communicate updates?
Leadership will share milestones as they are reached—contract developments, city steps, design progress, and campaign details.
